A console, rebuilt as an object

A Sega Genesis stripped down to its core and rebuilt inside a fully clear acrylic shell. Every component on display — motherboard, cartridge slot, "SEGA GENESIS 2" printed on the PCB, every port and connector. RGB lighting glows from within, casting the entire console in shifting color. Reads more like a museum exhibit than a working game console — and it works.

The build, step by step

• Full teardown. Every layer separated on an anti-static mat. The original shell removed and set aside; what remains is the bare console — motherboard, ports, cartridge slot — ready to be reframed.
• Motherboard service. Capacitors inspected and recapped where needed. Full cleaning of the PCB and contact points.
• Custom clear acrylic shell. The original case replaced with precision-cut clear acrylic panels, each cut on a CO2 laser. The motherboard, cartridge slot, controller ports, and AV connections are all visible from outside — not behind plastic.
• RGB lighting. Multi-color LED array inside the shell, controlled from a phone app. Lights up the entire console from within. Pick the color, dial in the brightness, set the speed.
• Original AV connections preserved. Composite output and 32X expansion compatibility unchanged.
• Reassembly under spec. Every panel aligned, every screw torqued, console powered and tested with multiple cartridges before it leaves the bench.

Finish quality

Studio-grade. The clear acrylic panels are cut on a CO2 laser — geometry impossible to achieve by hand. Edge finishing and panel alignment checked under controlled lighting before the build leaves the bench.
